Introduction of Haridwar

Climate :

Haridwar is an ancient city of 27 th Indian state. According to a popular legend, it was here when goddess Ganga was released by lord Shiva from the locks of his head. The river Ganga, enters in Haridwar after flowing for 250 km from its source at Gaumukh,at the edge of Gangotri glacier. This is one of the most holiest and sacred places in Hindu religion. According to the Samudra manthan, Haridwar along with Ujjain, Nasik and Prayagraj is one of four places where drop of elixir accidentally spilled over from the pot while being carried by the celestial Garuda.
The Kumbh mela takes place here once in every 12 years which sees the world highest gathering of people in one place. Millions of tourists, pilgrims, and devotees from all across the world take bath and perform rituals on the banks of the river Ganga.

Introduction of Rishikesh

Located in the foothills of the Himalays in Northern India, Rishikesh is known as the “Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas” and Yoga Capital of the world. It is about 25 km north of the city Haridwar and 43 km southeast of the state capital Dehradun. This very beautiful pilgrimage town and regarded one of the most sacred places to Hindus. Rishikesh and Haridwar have been announced as the first “twin national heritage cites” in 2015 by the then union tourism minister. The city has been hosting the International Yoga festival since 1989.

Derivation of the name:Rishikesh’ is a name of Lord Vishnu composed of ‘ Rishika ‘ meaning ‘senses’ and and ‘Esha’ means ‘Lord’, thus it stands for Lord of the Senses. That’s why this city is called the global Yoga capital for years this will for sure help reducing the gap between you and the Rishikesh.

3 Nights, 4 Days

Day 1 :Arrive in Haridwar-: (215 km/6 hours) – Start off your travel from Delhi to Haridwar. It is a 6 hours drive. You will reach here by 02:00 pm. Check in your hotel, have your lunch and some sleep after. A cabby from our side is ready to take you Har ki Pauri, it is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganga. This is a revered place and the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. By 07:00 o’clock in the evening you will take part in the Ganga Aarti. Each evening after the sunset priests perform Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri. The numerous lights are set on the water to drift downstream. A large numbers of devotees and tourists gather on both sides of the river banks of Ganga to sing its praises. That is truly a wonderful experience. Return to the hotel by 9:00 pm take you dinner and sleep.

Day 2 :Local and Nearby sight scene- Today after breakfast you should come out for visiting a series of temples and local sight scenes, some of them are given blow-:
Mansa Devi Temple A beautiful temple, dedicated to goddess Mansa Devi. The temple is located on the top of the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills. This temple has the two prime idols of the goddess in the main temple; one with three mouths and five arms, while the another has eight arms.

Chandi Devi Temple Chandi Devi temple is situated atop the Neel parvat on the Eastern summit of the Sivalik Hills. This was built in 1929 by Suchat singh, the king of Kashmir. It is said that main murti of Chandi Devi was installed in the temple in the 8 th century by Adi Guru Shankaracharya, according to the legends, it is the same place where Goddess Chandi killed the demons Chanda- Munda: <4>Daksha Mahadev Temple -: It is a temple dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the town of Kankhal, about 4 km from Haridwar. It is named after King Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati, Sati is believed as the consort of lord Shiva. The present temple was built by queen Dhankaur in 1810 and Rebuilt in 1962. <4>Bara Bazar The bustling Bara Bazar market of Haridwar is a shopper’s stop for the local and the foreigner tourists. Situated on the railway road, this market is much famous for selling religious paraphernalia, decorative ornamental and handicraft items. <4>Bhimgoda Kund The visiting of Bhimgoda Kund has been attracting tourists for many years. Having historical importance, this Kund is situated about 1 km from Har ki Pauri. According to a traditional myth and religious history of the region, Bhima, one of the salient characters from Mahabharata, dug out Bhimgoda Kund to draw the water from the rock with the hoof of his horse to quench his thirst. <4>Kanva rishi ashram It is truly heaven for the nature lovers and peace seekers, it is located about 42 km away from Haridwar. It is built on the banks of Malini river on the way to Kotdwara. Having a perfect location amidst the tranquil nature, this ashram always attracts those who want to spend time in solace.

Day 3

Haridwar to Rishikesh

Wake up at 8:00 Am, today you are on your way to Rishikesh. This is undoubtedly one of the most religious, sacred and visited city on the planet. Tourist places near Rishikesh provide a perfect holiday getaway to explore something religious, thrilling and adventurous. You will be driven to some of the best places nearby Rishikesh by our cabby.
